A Fall Bride in Virginia

When I was asked to first be photographer for this quaint backyard October wedding, of course I immediately said heck yeah! As time crept closer, I was then approached by the bride to do her hair and make up and you guys, my heart sang.

Of 10+ years. This is where I thrive. I quite literally paid to become my dream entrepreneur by going to cosmetology school and so I wouldn't say my "first passion" is all things hair and make up but I would say bits of my buckets are filled when Im being my most creative self and thank the good Lord he blessed me with two daughters because they are in for many many days of pampering and prom hair and make up(for free.)
The bride had asked for something soft, pulled back off of her face but too, not hard or "90s bride." Id been hired for a bride in Monterey CA to do what we dubbed "Elsa in Carmel" that was twisty and soft and accented with baby's breath and when I had sent it over with some other bridal styles we both agreed that would be the base for our bridal vision. Her make up was just a more enhanced version of her day wear make up because y'all, nobody especially a bride on her big day, wants to show up to their spouse with their eyes heavy and weighed down by some lashes that don't fit, or eyeshadow too dark they're looking like they haven't slept for days, and their lips looking like maybe they are bleeding but we aren't sure and maybe they side swiped a cherry on the way down the aisle.
Nobody wants that. Brides don't want that. I KNOW y'all don't want that! You should feel and LOOK like you with just the touches of special to enhance your already natural beauty.
When I picture a bride on her wedding day, I see her being totally and completely pampered. I want her to feel like she could come to me and know without a doubt that she would not have to worry about her hair and makeup (or photos) on her wedding day. I have talked to so many brides who have said "Oh I went from stylist to stylist, salon to the venue for something else..." and their hair and makeup experience sounded so stressful and then, quite a few followed it up with "and it wasn't my favorite."
IT'S YOUR DAY!
You should love everything about your day, ESPECIALLY your hair and make up that will be frozen in time for years to treasure and look back on. Planning can be overwhelming and my goal when I meet with all of my brides is to remind them that it does not have to be. And because I cannot ever get over this photo, how sweet is this picture of this momma looking up at her baby on her wedding day?
